Day One (Airplane Troubles)

Today has been quite the adventure. I should actually be on a plane in route to Israel, with about 2 hours left in my flight. But instead I am sitting on a giant bed inside a run down hotel room in New York City.

It's quite the long story...

So our first flight seems to go totally fine. I'm sitting next to people I know and the flight is pretty decent. We left right on time and then we reached our descent and the pilot came on the radio to say that the wind wasn't safe to land...so we circled around in the sky for like 10-15 minutes. Our next flight was in like 20-30 minutes so being late was not good...

We got off the plane right when our next flight was supposed to be leaving and of course as we exit gate A1 we read that our next flight is at gate A75!!! Yes...75!!!!!!! Me and the four people who got stuck at the back of the plane booked it sprinting to gate A75...which i feel was seriously like a mile...we found out about half way through that our flight had actually been delayed a little over an hour so we were fine and we walked the rest of the way.

Then we all realized that this delay may not be a good thing...because our flight from New York to Amman was still on schedule. But we were told they would wait a little for us...so we board our flight at 6 to leave at 6:45 and are pretty much doing good to get to New York in time.

But...it's not until about an hour and a half later that the flight actually takes off because of apparent bad weather in New York, which apparently disappeared completely before we got here. So we don't arrive in New York until about 10 o'clock....and our connection flight decided to not keep waiting for us.

Delta then set us up with a hotel to wait for the same flight the next day (8:15pm), we are all pretty stoked to see the city, speedy tour for us tomorrow. But then to add to all of our troubles the hotel and Delta didn't communicate very well and it took them about 2 hours to get us all situated in our rooms, which are motel status...and now it's dinner time, at 1:30am

Papa John's Cheese pizza...haha :)

Through all of this I think that we can just freak out and get annoyed and frustrated but I noticed that most of us were calm and having fun. Ya when we were sitting in the plane in Detroit we were a little annoyed to be confined to such a small space when the plane wasn't moving...but I think that what I have learned through this ordeal is to be patient. Patience makes things easier. I think if I had gotten frustrated and annoyed I would've been in a pretty bad mood. But here I am excited to be in New York.

PLUS, my ticket for our "new" flight is in FIRST CLASS! Woot Woot!

We have our flight to Amman tomorrow! And who knows when I will have internet next :) hope everyone at home is having a good time! See ya in a month!
